Hi there. Have you been wondering if I'm on the internet at all lately? I know my blogging is spotty at best. I have been around, just not on the blogs too much. I am on Instagram most days though. Want to follow me? jtlevitt
Anway, I wanted to share some pictures of my current favorite type of piecing - planned inprov. Basically it means sketching out a design first and even choosing some or all of the fabrics, but not actually measuring much.
This is a quilt top I made out of 3 such blocks. It's probably destined to reamin in my UFOs for a while. I have this crazy notion of actually buying a long-arm. So I no longer want to quilt anything since I'll want to practice if/when I get one. :)
A few months ago I taught a class on planned improv to the Bayside Quilters in MD. It was great fun. These are just a few examples of their work. I love how different they all are. I had a blast. I really love teaching.
I love your top! Great, graphic colors. I'd love to try this technique; it looks like a lot of fun. And I know from experience you're an excellent teacher. No wonder the improv pieces from MD look so good!
