Juicy Bits

153: no title

Yup, that's it.  I'm totally zapped creatively and I just can't come up with a title for this post.  Not even a boring one.

Truth be told, I'm a little down lately.  Not rock-bottom depressed or anything, but I've had some disappointments and stress, so I'm not feeling too chatty.  Plus, I decided not to go to Quilt Market this time around, and I do miss it.  I don't usually talk about this stuff here, not because I'm trying to put up a front, but because this is my happy place.

And I think that's part of it.  I've been working really hard, but it's all on stuff I can't show you. And I WANT to show you.  Maybe even NEED to show you.  I'm definitely learning how much I've come to rely on sharing here (and, yes, let's face it, your encouragement feels really good).

So I don't have too much to show off, but I did make this apron a while back for my cookie party.  And I never showed you the reverse side.

I love it.  I feel I need some crafty event to wear it at with the dressform side out. That fabric is so great.

 
It's loosely based on the Flirty Skirty apron pattern, but I changed it some: added details, cut the fabric differently, and even changed the shape a little.

So, don't worry about me, folks.  I'll be back soon and probably in a more cheery mood.

152: 9 years

Yesterday was my anniversary.  9 years.

Would I do it all over again?  Absolutely.

I don't think our photos look too dated yet... but, boy, do we look young.

Next year is the big 1-0.  We're planning a second honeymoon to Hawaii.  Woot!

151: starting and stopping

Here's a project I began a while back.  Like 6 months or more.  Remember when I taught myself to crochet?

Well, I did a few hats and scarves and stuff, then I decide to move right on to a whole blanket.

It's based on this lovely inspiration.

And this has some instructions.

But you can see I went for a more limited palette.  Maybe I should have photographed it on white so you could get the idea...

 

I had no pattern to work from.  So it took me a while to get it "just right".  Or the way I want it anyway.

I could possibly someday write a pattern if anyone's interested, but I don't think I have too many crocheting followers.  And it will probably be a while.  And I'm telling you it's not the best.  And I'm still working on figuring out the continuous method for all the white that joins the circles.  So that's a lot of buts/ands.

Anyway, I've done about 50 circles so far.  Seriously I'd better write down the pattern because I've stopped working on it for a while and by the time I get back to it, I'll probably forget it.

 

I estimate I have like 175 more to make.  Yikes!

Most of these already have the ends weaved in.  I have to say that's the part that sucks the most.  It takes nearly as long as the actual crocheting.

p.s. Did you notice I refrained from talking about how infrequently I've been posting lately?  You did?  Oh, well, I guess I blew that now.  

No really, I'm trying not to whine about my failings as a blogger and just go with the flow.  I'm super-busy and will be for at least the next two months, so set your expectations low.  

But, I have been working hard on the next fabric collection, for those of you that care.
