Who doesn't love color?
But I think I may be a little obsessive. It's not that I go crazy with color in my life...I'm not a walking rainbow and my home isn't like being inside a kaleidoscope, but just looking at different colors or combinations makes me so happy.
So I finally recently bought my very own pantone guide. How many of you designers out there have one of these? They're ridiculously expensive, but I can't tell you how silly and pleased I've been with mine. I just fan it out and look at the colors for no reason other than to admire them. And I carry it everywhere with me. So, of course, I had to make it a little case, so it doesn't get trashed in my bag.
The main reason I justified buying one is that I've been doing some design with my sister who lives in Seattle and we all know how frustrating communicating color long distance can be.
Previously when I was working on a project I was all about the paint chips from Home Depot. I'd go and take a million different ones and then whittle them down to the closest I could get for the project. Then I'd carry them in a ziploc everywhere and use them to match stuff. Now I can just bring my Fashion and Home Color Guide. Of course I probably could have bought one of those paint guides for a lot less, but I've seriously wanted one of these since I was a little girl (my dad had several...).
I think my family might get annoyed if I don't resist the urge to tell them things like "Your shirt is parrot green" or "Your eyes are stillwater blue".

Have you seen Kuler on the Adobe site? You can play with colors all day. You can even make a palette from a picture on Flickr. Kind of cool:
